Susquehanna Flats Fishing Report

Four days left to fish the catch and release season on the flats.  Fishing has continued to be great on the flats this year.  Every day is a new adventure, as we try and hunt down big fish.  We have caught fish regularly the last week, sometimes several dozen a day .  Big fish are around in good numbers, and though sometimes tough to come by we have caught our share.

We have had some fun with topwater fishing early and late in the day.  Fish have been eager to take a variety of flies and lures on periods of moving tide throughout the day.

Susquehanna Flats Fishing Report

The fishing continues to be good on the flats the last week.  We have caught decent numbers of fish on both flies and lures.   There have been a ton of schoolies size fish to keep you busy when tides are right, and we have had shots just about every day at some big fish too.

The last few days have seen a decent topwater bite develop, again a mixture of schoolies chasing the poppers and the occasional 40 plus incher.  Nothing more exciting then watching a big one coming for your topwater popper.  Weather has continued to be bearable, and water conditions are consisitent.  This has been one of the best seasons in years.

The season is set to end on May 3.  I may have one or two more spots free if you are looking to get out and fish.  Weather forecasts for the rest of this week look good, so I expect more good fishing.

Susquehanna Flats Update

The start to this year's season on the Susquehanna Flats has been a pleasant change from the last couple of years. Though we have had to contend with windy days for much of this month, water conditons have been decent due to the lack of rain and snowmelt.
We have been catching fish on the fly and light tackle since late March. Much of our fishing has been along the channel edges and deeper water. Heavy wind has made alot of the shallow water too turbid too fish. Good weather forecast for the next few days should help change this trend, and hopefully we will get some good topwater and shallow water fishing soon.
This week we have had some good fishing on the fly. We have caught a bunch of fish on hallf and half patterns along the edges of grass beds, and still along the channel edges. Topwater action is still a little slow, but we are having more bites on top each trip as the water temps warm.
